Abílio Guerreiro

Abílio Guerreiro

Abílio has been passionate about gastronomy and the true food experience throughout his life. It all started early on while watching his mother and grandmother reaching the perfect hard-ball sugar stage on their candy making. This passion led Abílio to embrace food as a full-time job in 2014, leaving behind a career in the pharmaceutical industry.

He started his cooking career in the distinguished restaurants of the Sheraton Algarve and Conrad Algarve, later turning into Chef and Partner of the restaurant Mèm (creative Mediterranean cuisine) in Loulé.

A natural enthusiast and a native from Algarve, Abílio is an expert on the local diversity of seafood and produce, in particular fig and carob, which are a must on his culinary creations.

Abílio is also a committed student of the culinary arts, continuously cementing and broadening his knowledge about gastronomy, having a Bachelor’s degree from the Tourism and Hospitality School and currently being a doctoral student in Tourism at University of Algarve, where he also holds a teaching position. These studies are further complemented by various cooking specializations, including in Asian Cuisine and Sushi, in Macrobiotic Food, and in Mediterranean Diet and Healthy Eating.
